Eric Vanular

If we're all just evolved monkeys on a rock floating through space, I figure we might as well make the most of our time here.

For me, that means always learning something new, building things that help people, staying healthy and active, getting outdoors, and seeing as much of the world as I can. I've followed my interests through engineering, consulting, and eventually into starting a software company of my own. There's still plenty I'd like to do.

But some of the best parts of life are pretty simple: a day spent playing in the mountains, listening to great music, cooking a tasty dinner, and any quality time spent with the people I love.

Anyway, welcome to my site. Thanks for stopping by.

01 / Background

A little background.

I grew up outside Toronto and began my career in strategy consulting before moving into technology consulting. Somewhere along the way, I became interested in building software myself.

I've lived in a few different places, both in Canada and overseas. Each has been its own experience, but Western Canada has come to feel like home.

02 / What I’m working on

Vantj.

Software to help manufacturing businesses find opportunities and manage their operations.

I started Vantj because I wanted to build something useful for an industry that does important, tangible work. We're still a small team, learning from the businesses we work with and figuring things out as we go.

03 / Away from the desk

Life outside work.

I enjoy getting outside, particularly hiking and snowboarding. I'm also happy exploring a new place, cooking, listening to music, or catching up with friends and family.

Occasional writing.

Every now and then, I write about technology, work, money, and whatever else has caught my interest.
